In the insular Caribbean, the conservation of game species and their habitats is a crucial issue for preserving regional biodiversity. The "Hunting, wildlife management, and conservation in the insular Caribbean" symposium aims to assess the challenges and opportunities related to the sustainable management of huntable species and to foster constructive collaboration between hunters, scientists, and conservation stakeholders.

Date and venue

This symposium is part of the Caribaea Initiative Research & Conservation Conference and will take place at the Karibea Sainte Luce Hotel, Martinique, on June 12, 2025.

Participants

The symposium is open to all registered conference attendees. It will bring together researchers and students, wildlife managers, members of hunting federations, representatives of various international NGOs, and other stakeholders involved in the conservation of Caribbean biodiversity.

Program

The symposium will be held over a full day and will include:

  • General overviews and more specific presentations on the issues related to hunting and conservation in the insular Caribbean
  • A round table discussion allowing direct exchange between various stakeholders

Language

The symposium will be conducted in English. Simultaneous English-French interpretation will be available throughout the event.

Those interested in presenting at the symposium can submit a proposal using the downloadable form available here. Please ensure that all submission guidelines are followed and send the completed form to conference2025[at]caribaea.org. The deadline for proposal submission is April 15, 2025. Submissions will be reviewed by our scientific committee, and authors will be notified of decisions on a rolling basis.
