Since 2016 (with a four-year interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic), we have organized international conferences where students, scientists, and managers working on the fauna of the Caribbean islands can meet.

During the odd years, our “Caribaea Initiative Research & Conservation Conference” gathers researchers and conservationists focused on the study, protection, and management of Caribbean wildlife. This unique meeting in the Caribbean is renowned as a forum for discussing and sharing a vision for preserving animal biodiversity in the Caribbean while strengthening local expertise. The scientific programme features sessions on various aspects of the study and conservation of Caribbean fauna, and mini-symposia on specific topics. Additionally, the Dawn AT Phillip award is given to the best student talk. Winners of previous years: Rachel Batista-Alvarez (2018) and Christopher Cambrone (2019).

During the even years, our “Caribaea Initiative Training and Reinforcement Workshop” focuses on developing foundational and technical skills in conservation, particularly addressing recent theoretical and methodological advances. This event is particularly intended for Caribbean graduate and post-graduate students, as well as Caribbean researchers in their early careers. During the workshop, we also present the "Best Poster Award." Winners of previous years: Sergio del Castillo (2024).
