About Caribaea Initiative
Caribaea Initiative is a non-profit association whose mission is to develop research and higher education on animal biodiversity and wildlife management in the insular Caribbean, in order to increase local expertise and scientific excellence. The association also aims at fostering scientific transnational cooperation between Caribbean and foreign research institutes.

About the 2020 Conference
The conference is intended to be a forum for discussing research on animal biodiversity and wildlife management in the insular Caribbean region. It represents a unique opportunity to bring together researchers and conservationists from various horizons. The program will include plenary talks by invited speakers, and oral and poster presentations organized in thematic and general sessions on the study and conservation of the Caribbean fauna.
This fifth edition is co-organized with the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus).
The Conference will run from June 01st to 03rd, 2020.
The social program will include a cocktail dinner party (included in the conference registration fee).

- Dr Penelope Lindeque, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, UK
“Impacts of marine plastic pollution on biota and ecology”
- Dr L. Ruth Rivkin, University of Toronto, Canada
“A roadmap for urban evolutionary ecology”
Call for talks and posters
We welcome researchers coming from different disciplines, including but not limited to, conservation biology, evolutionary ecology, behavioral ecology, systematics, parasitology and population genetics, as well as conservation practitioners and managers of nature reserves.
Abstract submission is now open. Participants are encouraged to give oral or poster presentations.
Abstracts submission deadline: April 15th, 2020
All abstracts received after April 15th will automatically be considered as poster presentations. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Speakers are allowed 15 minutes for presentation + 5 min for questions / discussion. Time will be strictly enforced.
Posters will be vertical B1 standard size (100 cm high x 70.7 cm wide). Besides the specific poster sessions indicated in the scientific program, they will be available to participants during the conference days.
At least one of the authors must be a registered participant at the conference, and attend the conference to present the work. The accepted abstracts will be given to all conference attendees and published on the conference webpage.

* To register as a student you must be a full time under or post-graduate student. Proof will be required, this can be a scan of your student identification card or a letter from your university which can be emailed to us at contact(at)caribaea.org.
The conference registration fees include:
- A conference kit (including printed program & pdf doc with abstracts)
- Access to all conference sessions – 3 days
- Coffee breaks and Lunches (Monday through Wednesday)
- One admission to the banquet dinner
A limited number of conference fee waivers (50% discount on registration rate) will be available to selected scholars and students from Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Participants will need to meet all their own travel, visa (if any), accommodation and subsistence costs. Requests for waivers must be sent before 15 March 2020.
